Skill: Technique
Drill: Create Your Own
Equipment needed: None
Instructors needed: 1 per Line
Description: Students will work on their TECHNIQUE by having to make their own combinations. This will challenge students intellectual stage of development by being able to quickly remember three techniques and demonstrate them.
Teaching SKILLZ:
CHOICES – On the second round, the instructor can give the students a choice to do four or five moves instead of three to make it harder. This will empower the students because they have a say in what they are doing, and will motivate the students to try their best in what they are doing.
Brain SKILLZ:
LONG TERM MEMORY – The student must be able to recall their techniques, and string together three moves into a combination. This works on their ability to remember information and apply that information to the task they are doing.
Step 1
Divide your students into lines
Step 2 – Setting Up the Drill:
Have one instructor in front of each line.
Step 3 – Explain the Rules:
  • One student will come up at a time.
  • They will have ten seconds to quickly demonstrate a 3 move combo.
  • This will repeat 3 times for every students turn.
  • Each round you can up the number of techniques the student has to use in the combos.
  • If a student isn’t able to demonstrate a combo in 10 seconds they will have to do 3 push ups.
Step 4 – Takeaways:
  • Watch your technique. Even though you are moving fast you want to be able to show good technique.
  • Yell loud every time you do a move, it shows that you are confident in what you are doing.
  • Move fast! You don’t want to have to do push ups.
Step 5
  • Continue for 2-3 rounds.
