Drill: Domination
Equipment needed: None
Instructors needed: A few to monitor
Description: The students will practice having good ORIENTATION by fighting for a dominant position and then using leverage to stand before their partner.
Step 1
  • Divide your class into lines with their partners.  
Step 2 – Explain the rules:
  • Kneel side by side and lock adjacent ankles and place adjacent arms around each other’s neck.
  • When the instructor says “go”, you will try to be the first to gain a dominant position.
  • Next you must stand up and away from your partner.
  • The first one to get away wins.
Step 3 – Takeaways
  • Take your time to focus on that dominant position.
  • Do not be in a rush to stand up first, get control first.
  • Be careful not to strike you partner on accident.
Step 4
  • Continue until everyone goes 4 – 8 times.
