Skill: COMMITMENT
Drill: Progressive Form Challenge
Equipment needed: None
Instructors needed: 1 per Line
Description: The students will practice COMMITMENT by demonstrating their ability to go through a form repeatedly. This will challenge the students physically and mentally by requiring them to not be bored even though they will be doing the same thing over and over, this will also be very taxing on their body so they don’t want their technique to suffer either.
Step 1
Divide your students into lines
Step 2 – Setting Up the Drill:
For each group, you will need an Instructor.
Step 3 – Explain the Rules:
  • The instructor will pick one of the forms for their group to do.
  • The students will start do the 1 combo of their form and then reset to ready position.
  • Then they will do Combo 1&2 and reset to ready position.
  • They will continue this trend until they get to the end that was set by the instructor.
  • If the instructor notices at any point that the student’s commitment is lacking whether it’s sloppy moves, no yelling, or lack of effort the instructor will ask them to have a seat.
Step 4 – Takeaways:
  • Keep going and don’t give up even when you get tired.
  • Keep focused on the details this will be a tough challenge.
  • Maintain great power always, even when you’re tired.
  • The goal is to still be standing at the end to show how committed you are to being excellent.
Step 5
  • Continue so that each student has at least 2 turns.
