Drill: Partner Hop Relay
Equipment needed: 1 WaveMaster Top
Instructors needed: Multiple to Monitor
Description: The students will work on their BALANCE by hopping on one foot with a partner down and around a WaveMaster top.
Teaching SKILLZ:
TRICKERY – Instead of saying “go”, the instructor can say words that sound similar, like “gopher” and “ghost” in order to keep the students engaged and improve their auditory processing.
Brain SKILLZ:
DIVIDED ATTENTION – The student has to hop down and round the pad while keeping one leg up for the whole duration, while paying attention to how fast their partner is going and holding onto their hand the whole time. This works on their ability to do multiple things at one time.
Step 1
Divide your students into lines
Step 2 – Setting Up the Drill:
 
Step 3 – Explain the Rules:
  • The students will hold hands and pick up the leg that is closest to their partner.
  • Then they will hop on one foot, down and around a wavemaster top.
  • If they put their foot down they both have to do 3 push-ups before they can continue.
  • First team to finish wins.
Step 4 – Takeaways:
  • Keep your knee high.
  • Don’t go too fast.
  • Work together with your partner.
Step 5
  • Continue until each student has 2 turns.
