Drill: Dribble Kicks
Equipment needed: 1 Dodgeball & 1 clapper pad per line
Instructors needed: 1 per line
Description: Students will work on their BALANCE by holding their chamber up high and bouncing a ball on each side of the leg while kicking in between.
Teaching SKILLZ: EXTRINSIC MOTIVATION
If the student puts their foot down, then the student has five squat jumps.
Brain SKILLZ: VISUAL PROCESSING
The students must be able to bounce the ball in- between kicks. This works on their ability to participate in visual activities, as they must spot the moving ball and catch it despite being on one leg.
Step 1
Divide your students into lines.
Step 2 – Setting up the Drill
  • For each line have on instructor holding a clapper pad for front kicks
  • Give the first student in each line a ball
Step 3 – Explain the Rules:
  • When the instructor says go you will chamber your front kick
  • Then bounce the ball on one side of your chamber and catch it again.
  • After you catch it, kick the pad 1 time without putting your foot down.
  • Repeat this bouncing on the other side of your chamber and follow up with a kick.
  • Your goal is to get 5 bounces without putting your foot down.
Step 4 – Takeaways
  • Make sure your balance leg is strong
  • If you start to lose your BALANCE, bend your knee.
  • Don’t let your chamber drop too far
