We are going to play the following PUNCHING drill: Hand Smacks
Skill-Building Drills – 7 Minutes
Don’t Knock the Pad:
The student will practice their KICKING by turning their body and side kicking a slammer pad while kicking over a stack of slammer pads. This will help the students build control, gross motor skills, and spatial awareness.
Teaching SKILLZ: TRICKERY – The instructor can say “go” to prompt the students to kick, while saying words that sound like “go” (like ghost) as well in order to enhance the student’s auditory processing.
Brain SKILLZ: VISUAL PROCESSING – The student must be able to look over their shoulder and spot their target, while looking out for the tower and making sure they don’t knock it over.
Hand Smacks:
The student will practice their punches by hitting the instructor’s hand. This will help the students build good hand-eye-coordination.
Teaching SKILLZ: HEALTHY COMPETITION – See who can be louder while counting, the instructor or the student.
Brain SKILLZ: WORKING MEMORY – The student must remember to keep their hands up by their eyes while they do their punches.
