Drill: Twist Breaks
Equipment needed: 1 wavemaster base & 1 rebreakable board/line.
Instructors needed: 1 per line
Description: The students will increase their FORCE by understanding the correct speed, timing and footwork needed to break a board with minimal set up.
Step 1
  • Divide your class into even lines by size.  
Step 2 – Explain the Rules:
  • Students will take 2 steps towards the base.
  • Students must step on the base with their non-kicking leg and use the other to twist kick through the board.
  • Each student will have 5 chances to break the boards before their turn is done.
Step 3 – Takeaways:
  • Set up your shot; plan your steps in advance.
  • Pay attention to your kicking foot and how you want to strike the board.
  • Board holders, maintain a strong stance; don’t flinch, even if you get hit.
Step 4
  • Continue for at least 3 rounds.
