Hurdles
Equipment needed:
Stackable kicking shields/obstacles for students to jump over for each line.
Instructors needed:
Several to monitor and coach
Description:
The students will increase their FORCE by understanding the correct speed, timing and footwork needed to jump with minimal set up.
Step 1
Divide your class into even lines.
Step 2 – Explain the Rules:
Students will have 60 seconds to complete as many 2 step, 1 leg take off jumps as they can.
Once they’ve cleared all obstacles, they will cycle through the line and repeat for the duration of the round.
In the next round, increase the height of the obstacles for the students that are able to clear level one.
Repeat this cycle for at least 3 rounds.
Step 3 – Takeaways:
Don’t fixate one the obstacles; keep your eyes up, where you would target your kick.
Set yourself up for your best jump; use your arms for speed and lift, step quickly and pre-pivot your body with your last step.
Control your landing to be both safe and strong for your follow up hit.
Step 4
Continue for at least 3 rounds.
