Equipment needed: None
Instructors needed: One Per Group
Description: The students will test their versatility with synchronicity by performing their form in opposite directions while trying to stick together and maintaining technique and intensity.
Teaching SKILLZ: EXTRINSIC MOTIVATION
The pair with the highest score at the end of the drill, will be able to pick an exercise for the other pairs to do, not exceeding five reps.
Brain SKILLZ: DIVIDED ATTENTION
The students must be able focus on themselves while they do their form, as well as their partner. This works on their ability to focus on multiple things at one time, as they must be able to do their form at the same \time with their partner, while focusing on their technique and intensity as well.
Step 1
Pair your students up with a partner at the same rank or form level and divide the pairs into groups.
Step 2 – Setup the Drill
Have the first pair from each group stand back-to-back in the forms ring as shown in the picture.
Step 3 – Explain the Rules:
  • You will perform your form on your own count with your partner.
  • I will judge each pair on a score of 1 to 10 based on the following criteria:
    • Timing
    • Technique
    • Technique

  • The pair with the highest score is the winner.
