Drill: Breakdown
Equipment needed: 1 small target per line.
Instructors needed: Multiple to monitor
Description: The students will practice having good DETAILING by demonstrating their ability to apply good detail to each part of their kick so that they can understand the details. This will challenge the students physically by requiring them to do repetitive movements without getting sloppy or tired.
Step 1
Divide your students into lines
Step 2 – Setting Up the Drill:
The 1st student in line will stand up and face the instructor.
Step 3 – Explain the Rules:
  • The student will demonstrate the chamber 3 times striking their knee to the small target.
  • They will then demonstrate the chamber and the kick 3 times, striking the target with the correct part of their foot.
  • The student will then demonstrate the chamber, kick, re-chamber 3 times the focus is the re-chamber. (Have students kick small target 3 times)
Step 4 – Takeaways:
  • Take your time on each part of the kick.
  • Do each part as good as you can.
  • Hit the pad at every level.
Step 5
  • Continue until each student has 2-3 turns.
