Drill: Between the Pads
Equipment needed:
Instructors needed: 1 per Line
Description: The students will practice having good DETAILING by demonstrating their ability to karate chop in between 2 pads. This will challenge them physically by requiring them to have clean lines on their strikes this will require focus with their eyes as well.
Step 1
Divide your students into lines
Step 2 – Setting Up the Drill:
The 1st student in each line will stand up in front of the instructor.
Step 3 – Explain the Rules:
  • The instructor will hold the 2 pads sandwich style with a space in between them.
  • The instructor will count and the student will demonstrate a karate chop aiming to stop their hand between the pads.
  • The student will do these 5 times then go to the end of the line, on round 2 they will use their other hand.
Step 4 – Takeaways:
  • Fingers together so you don’t hit the pad.
  • Have a good chamber to help with aim.
  • Try to freeze your hand between the pads.
Step 5
  • Continue until each student has 2-3 turns.
