Drill: Twist the Cap
Equipment needed: 2 Coloring Markers
Instructors needed: 1 per Line
Description: The students will practice having good DETAILING by demonstrating their ability to have a good twist on each punch by rotating the cap on a marker. This will challenge the students mentally by requiring them to have enough focus to rotate their hand as they are punching.
Step 1
Divide your students into lines
Step 2 – Setting Up the Drill:
The 1st student from each line will stand up and face the instructor.
Step 3 – Explain the Rules:
  • The student will play the markers in both hands. (make sure the marker is all the way in the hand so chambers are comfortable.)
  • The instructor will count out 10 punches and the student will get 1 point every time they can turn the markers cap all the way over.
  • The goal is for the student to get 10 points.
Step 4 – Takeaways:
  • Turn the cap all the way over.
  • Use your eyes to watch the punch.
  • Try to keep your retraction hands tight.
Step 5
  • Continue until each student has 2 turns.
