Drill: Match the Target
Equipment needed: 1 Century Foot Target
Instructors needed: 1 per Line
Description: The students will practice having good DETAILING by demonstrating their ability to have finer detail on each kick that they do so that their foot can match the pad. This will challenge the students intellectually by requiring them to put their foot in the correct position to kick.
Step 1
Divide your students into lines
Step 2 – Setting Up the Drill:
The 1st student in each line will stand up and face the instructor.
Step 3 – Explain the Rules:
  • The instructor will hold the pad for the student in a direction the matches front kick or sidekick.
  • The student will then say the kick the corresponds and they will demonstrate 3 of that kick.
  • On the next round, they can do whatever kick they didn’t get to do in the previous round.
Step 4 – Takeaways:
  • Chamber before you do each kick.
  • Take your time on every kick.
  • Don’t forget to re-chamber after every kick.
Step 5
  • Continue until each student has 2 turns.
