Drill: Elevator Push-Ups
Equipment needed: 3 slammer pads per line
Instructors needed: 1 per line
Description: Students will practice having good STRENGTH by working on their ability to do elevated push-us which will work their arms and core at the same time.
Teaching SKILLZ: Up the Rep
challenge students to increase the difficulty by progressing to higher pad levels, motivating them to push past comfort zones while building confidence and strength.
Brain SKILLZ: Working Memory
students must remember proper form (hands under shoulders, arms to 90 degrees, core tight, controlled breathing) and apply it while adjusting to the new elevation.
Step 1
Divide your students into lines.
Step 2
Have the students sitting with the instructor.
Step 3 – Explain the Rules
  • The 1st two students in line will go to their push-up position with their feet on the kicking shield.
  • When the instructor count the students will do push-ups trying not to fall off the pad.
  • If they can do 5 without falling then they can move to the next pad level, they can continue until they hit 3 or 4 pads.
Step 4 – Takeaways
  • Bend your arms until they hit 90.
  • Breathe so you don’t get gassed.
  • Push through and keep going to get strong.
Step 5
  • Continue until each person has 2-3 turns.
