Drill: Turtle Shell Kicks
Equipment needed: 2 Kicking shields per line
Instructors needed: 1 per Line
Description: Students will practice having FITNESS by kicking strongly for an extended period of time applying force to keep their instructor away.

Step 1
Divide your students into lines
Step 2 – Setting Up the Drill:
Lay one kicking shield on the ground to lay on.
Step 3 – Explain the Rules:
  • The first student in line will lay on their back on the pad with feet facing the instructor.
  • When the instructor says “go” the instructor will try to squish you with the pad.
  • Kick the pad with your heels as many times as you can before before you get squished.
  • Your goal is to last for a full 10 seconds without getting squished or rolling over.
Step 4 – Takeaways:
  • Keep your hands up to protect your face
  • Kick strong to keep the pad away
  • Remember not to roll over or off the pad
Step 5
  • Continue until each student gets 2-3 turns.
