Teaching SKILLZ: Healthy Competition
Instruction: “Race as a team! First group to finish correctly and fastest gets the point—cheer each other on!” This motivates students through energetic team-based competition.
Brain SKILLZ: Visual Processing
Students must accurately identify and strike the top, middle, and bottom blocks in sequence—requiring them to visually process spatial positioning quickly while in motion.
Step 1
Divide your students into lines
Step 2 – Setup the drill
Place 3 blocks stacked on the opposite end of the mat
Step 3 – Explain the Rules:
When the instructor says “go” the first student will bear crawl down the mat.
Once you reach the 3 blocks punch the top block.
Then punch the middle block.
Finally punch the bottom block.
End by bear crawling back to your line.
The first line to finish gets a point.
First team to reach 3 points WINS!
Step 4 – Takeaways
Do your best to not fall while crawling down the mat.
