Drill: Hit the Mark
Equipment needed: Bo / Student
Instructors needed: Several to monitor and coach
Description: The students will develop ENDURANCE in their striking while maintaining proper technique and stances.
Step 1
  • Divide your students into even lines.  
Step 2 – Explain the Rules:
  • When the instructor says “go” the 1st student will step into a front stance, and start the 4-count striking pattern (Left horizontal, right horizontal, r vert up, r very down).
  • Strikes must hit full extension for reps to count.
  • Strikes must audibly hit the body.
  • If an instructor calls a student out because of quality of technique or sound, that student must begin again.
  • The 1st student to finish 10 reps will be the winner.
Step 3 – Takeaways:
  • Keep a strong level stance throughout the drill; don’t bounce.
  • Place your hands correctly at the beginning of the drill.
  • Use 1 breath for all 4 strikes.
Step 4
  • Continue for 2 – 3 rounds.
