Drill: Quick Fire
Equipment needed: 1 Wavemaster top/ 1 Block/ 3 Small square targets per line
Instructors needed: One per line
Description: The students will practice having good RETENTION by demonstrating their ability to remember a question after doing s task so that that they can earn a point for their team. This will challenge them mentally by requiring them to retain information even after giving focus to another task.
Step 1
Have students get into lines.
Step 2 – Setting Up the Drill:
The 1st student in every line will stand up.
Step 3 – Explain the Rules:
  • When the head instructor asks, a question concerning the 7 Steps to Teaching a Drill the first student will run down to their holder.
  • They will have 3 chances to knock the block off the Wavemaster using a punch. (3’-4’ distances)
  • The first student to knock the block off will get a chance to answer the question first, if they get it right they will earn a point for their team.
  • If they get it wrong, they have 5 push-ups and the teams that knocked the block as well will get a chance to answer the question.
  • On round 2 switch the technique to another martial arts technique.
Step 4 – Takeaways:
  • Hit the middle of the pad so that can be the first to knock down your block.
  • Think about the answer as you run down the mat.
  • Don’t get frustrated even if you have a hard time with this game keep showing a black belt attitude.
Step 5
  • Continue until each student has 2-3 turns.
