Skill: RETENTION
Drill: Head, Body, Legs
Equipment needed: 1 foam noodle
Instructors needed: 1 per Line
Description: The students will practice having good RETENTION by demonstrating their ability to block areas of their body but the instructor will be calling out the body parts not the block its self. This will challenge the students mentally by requiring them to make the connection between the body part and the corresponding block.
Step 1
Divide your students into lines
Step 2 – Setting Up the Drill:
The 1st student in each line will stand up and face the instructor.
Step 3 – Explain the Rules:
  • The instructor will call out a body part like “HEAD”, “BODY”, or “LEGS” and then they swing the noodle towards one of the areas.
  • The student must quickly do the correct block to protect themselves, the instructor does not want to go to fast when swinging the noodle.
  • The student will get a random mix of 3 body parts before going to the end of the line.
Step 4 – Takeaways:
  • Don’t turn around and look wait for your team
  • Whisper so that other people can’t hear you
  • Don’t be upset if you forget the move
