Drill: Mix Up
Equipment needed: Multiple rings/1 big cone per line
Instructors needed: 1 per Line
Description: The students will practice having good RETENTION by demonstrating their ability to remember a pattern of colors called out by the instructor, then they must pick the colors out of a mix of rings. This will challenge the students mentally to remember the colors called when presented with so many choices in one area.
Step 1
Divide your students into lines
Step 2 – Setting Up the Drill:
The 1st student from each line will stand up and face the instructor.
Step 3 – Explain the Rules:
  • The instructor will call 3 different colors for the students to grab.
  • When the instructor says “GO” the students must run down to the pile of rings and grab their 3 colors.
  • They will then run back and put the 3 colors on top of the big cone at the beginning of their line.
Step 4 – Takeaways:
  • Have strong kicks on the targets
  • Count loud so you have good communication
  • Hand the pad to your friends nicely
Step 5
  • Continue until each student has 2-3 turns.
