Teaching SKILLZ:
HEALTHY COMPETITION – The instructor can give the lines silly team names in order to motivate the students, like “hamburgers vs. hot dogs”. This will motivate the students to play the game with effort in order to score and win for their team.
Brain SKILLZ:
RESPONSE INHIBITION – The student must be able to do their burpees and break the board every time until they complete their turn. This works on their ability to complete a task despite distraction, the distraction being their body getting tired.
Step 1
Divide your students into lines
Step 2 – Setting Up the Drill:
Give each instructor a board at the front of each line.
Step 3 – Explain the Rules:
  • The first student in each line will stand up.
  • When the head instructor says go students will do 5 burpees; in between each burpee students will have to break the board.
  • If the student doesn’t break the board on the first try they will have to keep trying.
  • The first student to do all five burpees and break the board five times, sit strong, then say finish sir/ ma’am; will get a point for their team.
Step 4 – Takeaways:
  • Go fast. The harder you work your body the stronger your will get.
  • Don’t give up! Even if you can’t break it the first time keep trying.
  • Cheer on your teammates! The louder you cheer the faster your teammate will go.
