Skill: Perseverance
Drill: Round Kick Burnout
Equipment needed: 1 wavemaster per line
Instructors needed: 1 per Line
Description: The students will work on their perseverance by kicking and jumping non-stop.
Teaching SKILLZ:
HEALTHY COMPETITION – The instructor can see which student has the greatest amount of jump round kicks at the end of the game. This can be the new record for students to beat the next time they play the game.
Brain SKILLZ:
RESPONSE INHIBITION – The student must be able to do their round kicks while jumping in the air. This works on their ability to complete a task despite distraction, the distraction being their legs getting tired.
Step 1
Divide your students into lines.
Step 2 – Setting Up the Drill:
For each line, you will need one wavemaster.
Step 3 – Explain the Rules:
  • The first student in each line will perform alternating jump round kicks on the wavemaster for 15 seconds.
  • If they stop or pause then they are out.
  • The students that continue for the entire 15 seconds will earn a point for their team.
  • The team or teams with the highest score are the winners.
Step 4 – Takeaways:
  • Kick with good technique.
  • Kick fast with good power.
  • Don’t slow down even when it starts to hurt.
Step 5
