Drill: Walk of Doom
Equipment needed: None
Instructors needed: One per line
Description: The students will practice PERSEVERANCE demonstrating a middle stance constantly moving down the mat getting as low as they can in to their stance.
Teaching SKILLZ: Up the Rep
Students are encouraged to put more effort into each stance, holding lower and longer with each round to build strength and focus.
Brain SKILLZ: Attention Control
Students must stay focused on their stance technique and leg positioning, resisting the urge to rush or get distracted when their legs start to burn.
Step 1
Divide your students into lines.
Step 2
For each line you will need an instructor.
Step 3 – Explain the Rules
  • The first student will demonstrate their middle stance as low as they can.
  • Then they will step together, then step out into their middle stance.
  • They will continue this all the way down the mat.
  • On round 2 have them put the other leg forward.
Step 4 – Takeaways
  • Go slow and try to feel the burn.
  • Get as low as possible so that your legs will get strong.
  • Focus on having the best technique possible.
Step 5
  • Continue until each student has 2 – 3 turns.
