Chair Jump Challenge
Equipment needed:
4 chairs and 4 slammer pads
Instructors needed:
Several to monitor
Description:
The students will work on their perseverance in their leg strength by jumping over pads from a chair.
Teaching SKILLZ: Intrinsic Motivation
Students push themselves to complete each jump with good technique, even when their legs get tired, because they want to see how strong they can be.
Brain SKILLZ: Response Inhibition
Students practice staying focused and not getting distracted by fatigue, controlling the urge to stop or lose form as their legs get tired.
Step 1
Divide your students into groups.
Step 2 – Setup the Drill
For each group you will need to set up four chairs staggered apart with a stammer pad a few steps away from each chair.
Step 3 – Explain the Rules
You will stand on the chair and jump from the chair to the ground and then over the stammer pad.
Make sure you keep your feet together as you jump.
You’ll continue through all of the obstacles.
Your goal is to have perseverance in your leg strength by not losing technique as you go through the obstacles.
Step 4 – Takeaways
Don’t stop Jumping or you will lose momentum.
Pick your knees up on every jump.
Keep your feet together so you can land strong.
Step 5
Continue until the students have at least three turns.
