Skill: PERSEVERANCE
Drill: Three in a Row
Equipment needed: One re-breakable board per line
Instructors needed: One per line
Description: In this drill the students will build consistent power by applying perseverance in their board breaking abilities.
Teaching SKILLZ: Healthy Competition
Students stay motivated by comparing their own progress with classmates in a supportive way, encouraging effort and consistency while keeping the focus on growth, not just winning.
Brain SKILLZ: Response Inhibition
Students must avoid frustration or sloppy execution when the board doesn’t break right away, staying calm and focused to deliver powerful, controlled kicks.
Step 1
Divide your students into lines.
Step 2
The first student in each line will have to break the re-breakable board three times in a row with a side kick. This means that they must have consistent power.
Step 3
  • If the student does not break in the first three attempts, then he/ she must start over. For every “attempt” it takes the student to break the board, he/ she must do 10 push-ups and 10 squat jumps..
Step 4
  • Continue until each student has at least two turn.
Step 5
  • The goal is to teach the students how to have perseverance in their power by staying focused and trying their hardest on each attempt.
Step 6
  • You can add variety to this drill by changing the technique to a palm strike, front kick, round kick, hammer fist, etc.
