Drill: Pause!
Equipment needed: None
Instructors needed: 1 per Line
Description: The students will practice COMMUNICATION by demonstrating their ability to stay focused on a task and give clear details about the task even when they are interrupted. This will challenge them mentally by requiring them to not lose focus during drills even if they have to stop mid explanation.
Step 1
Divide your students into groups
Step 2 – Setting Up the Drill:
For each group, you will need the group to form a circle with an instructor.
Step 3 – Explain the Rules:
  • The 1ststudent in the group will be the instructor, their goal is to complete an exercise with their team doing 10 reps.
  • When the instructor says “GO” the 1st student will start their exercise.
  • At some point the instructor will yell “PAUSE” the student must stop where ever they are until the instructor says “GO.”
  • If the lead student forgets their place, gives up, or makes a mistake then they are out until the next round.
Step 4 – Takeaways:
  • Be loud, so your team can here you.
  • Don’t get distracted, when you should pause.
  • Be a strong teammate and instructor.
Step 5
  • Continue so that each student has at least 2 turns.
