Skill-Building Drills – 15 Minutes
Popcorn Breaks:
Students will work on their AGILITY by being able to go from doing constant switches to running and breaking a board as smooth as possible. This will challenge student physical stage of development by being about to go from switching to running fast without falling.
Teaching SKILLZ: EXTRINSIC MOTIVATION – The quickest student will get a point for their team, and the team with the least points will to do 10 push-ups.
Brain SKILLZ: RESPONSE INHIBITION – Students must listen for the instructor’s command to run down the mat and break the board without being distracted by the physical stimulus of switching their feet or the auditory or visual stimulus of other students switching their feet.
Math Jump Challenge:
Students will practice having good AGILITY by being able to quickly do a math problem, then jump over a bar using two feet with the correct amount of jumps.
Teaching SKILLZ: HEALTHY COMPETITION – Divide your class into teams and see who can complete their math problem jumps the fastest.
Brain SKILLZ: DIVIDED ATTENTION – Students will multi-task by figuring out their math problem to complete their jumps.
