Class 6 – Perseverance

Active Warm-Up – 7 Minutes
  • Arms: Intermediate push-ups
  • Legs: Squats touching the ground
  • Abs: Dish pulling knees in
  • Core: Bridge with kicks
Mat Chat – 3-minutes (Includes Water Break)
  • Today we are going to work on PERSEVERANCE.
  • PERSEVERANCE means to not give up your endurance, focus, or determination.

Here are the three PERSEVERANCE tips that you will learn today:

1. Do not give up your endurance especially when you are tired. 2. Do not lose focus under pressure and also when something is easy. 3. Do not give up your determination especially when something gets difficult.
Skill-Building Drills – 15 Minutes

Don’t Lose Your Feet:

In this drill the students will practice having endurance by jumping non-stop over a noodle for thirty seconds. The goal is for them to avoid getting their feet hit with the noodle, and for every time the noodle hits their feet, they have 5 push-ups once the time is up.
  • Teaching SKILLZ: HEALTHY COMPETITION – The student who has the least number of jumps will do 10 push-ups.
  • Brain SKILLZ: ATTENTION CONTROL – The student must stay engaged with effort for the entire time.

Pad Toss Challenge :

The student will practice having perseverance in their focus by trying to punch small targets into the wall. This is great for building accuracy and technique.
  • Teaching SKILLZ: INSTRINSIC MOTIVATION – The student will do 5 push-ups for every pad that misses the wall.
  • Brain SKILLZ: VISUAL PROCESSING – The student will use visual skills to hit the pad correctly.
Active Stretches: 5-minutes
  • Ankle rotations
  • Clock stretch
  • Forward lunges
  • Lower back sitting stretch
Game – 3-minutes
  • Speed ball
