Drill: Muscle Block Challenge
Equipment needed: 2 small square pads
Instructors needed: 1 per Line
Description: Students will practice FOCUS by demonstrating their ability to focus with their eyes by demonstrating a muscle block that has to fit in between the small square pads.
Teaching SKILLZ:
EXTRINSIC MOTIVATION – If the student touches the pads, they will have five jumping jacks at the end of their turn.
Brain SKILLZ:
VISUAL PROCESSING – The students must be able to perform their muscle block, while also making sure they do not hit the pads. This works on their ability to participate in visual activities, as they must be able to avoid the pads and perform their muscle block with control.
Step 1
Divide your students into lines
Step 2 – Setting Up the Drill:
The instructor will hold the small pads to the side of the students.
Step 3 – Explain the Rules:
  • The 1st student in each line will stand up and turn sideways.
  • The student will do 1 muscle block and the instructor will use the pads to mark the area of their block.
  • Then the instructor will count out 3 blocks and the student will have to fit their arm back in the same area as the 1st.
  • If the students hit the pad then they owe the instructor 3 of any exercise.
Step 4 – Takeaways:
  • Have your eyes open so you can see where to fit your arm.
  • Have a strong chamber on each block.
  • Be awesome as you do every block.
Step 5
  • Continue until each person has 2-3 turns.
