Drill: Finger Touch Challenge
Equipment needed: 1 clapper pad per line
Instructors needed: 1 per Line
Description: Students will practice having good FOCUS by demonstrating their ability to focus on the number of finger the instructor is touching, then they will have to kick the correct amount of time.
Teaching SKILLZ:
EXTRINSIC MOTIVATION – If the students do the wrong amount of kicks, then they have to do five shoulder taps.
Brain SKILLZ:
VISUAL PROCESSING – This works on their ability to make sense of what they see, as they have to count the correct amount of fingers to do the correct amount of kicks.
Step 1
Divide your students into lines
Step 2 – Setting Up the Drill:
Have the students sitting with the instructor.
Step 3 – Explain the Rules:
  • The 1st student in line will stand up and face the instructor with their hand out and open.
  • When the instructor touches one of their fingers the student must count how many that is away from the thumb and do that many kicks.(Ex. Ring Finger = 4 Front Kicks)
  • They will do the proper amount of kicks and then head to the end of the line.
Step 4 – Takeaways:
  • Spot your target before you kick.
  • Go fast as you do the kick.
  • Chamber before you do each kick.
Step 5
  • Continue until each person has 2-3 turns.
