Skill: Vision
Drill: Hot Potato
Equipment needed: 1 dodgeball for circle
Instructors needed: 1 per Line
Description: Students will practice having good VISION by demonstrating their ability to demonstrate their ability to quickly be able to say their vision word for the cycle.
Teaching SKILLZ:
EXTRINSIC MOTIVATION – The instructor can allow the winners of each round to be safe from the exercise that one of the instructors picks, with the exercise being around 5-10 reps.
Brain SKILLZ:
AUDITORY PROCESSING – The students must hear the music stop and see where the ball is. If the ball is next to them, they must say their word. This works on their ability to respond to audio cues, as they must say their word when the music stops if they are next to the ball.
Step 1
Divide your students into circles.
Step 2 – Setting Up the Drill:
Have the students sitting with the instructor.
Step 3 – Explain the Rules:
  • The students will stand up and the instructor will give 1 student the dodgeball to start.
  • When the music starts the students will start to pass the ball around the circle.
  • When the music stops the 2 students on either side of the person with the ball must say their word.
  • Whoever says it first will stay in the other is out, if there is a tie then it will be decided by rock, paper, scissors!
Step 4 – Takeaways:
  • Don’t throw the ball hard so it’s difficult to catch.
  • Say the word that applies to you when necessary.
  • Have fun but don’t be upset if you get out.
Step 5
  • Continue until each person has 2-3 turns.
