Skill: VISION
Drill: Technical Vision
Equipment needed: None
Instructors needed: 1 per line
Description: The students will practice VISION and improving their techniques using tension techniques.
Teaching SKILLZ: Neurobics
instead of just calling the technique name, switch it up with numbers, colors, or objects (ex. “red” = punch, “blue” = kick) so students must connect a new cue to the move, keeping their brain engaged.
Brain SKILLZ: Long-Term Memory
students must recall the spelling of their vision word while controlling their movement with tension, finishing the technique exactly as they complete the word.
Step 1
Divide your students into 1 line.
Step 2 – Setup the drill
  • Have one instructor for each line to check spelling
Step 3 – Explain the Rules:
  • Have the first student in line stand up.
  • The instructor will call a technique.
  • The student must perform the technique with tension while spelling their word.
  • You must time the technique so that you finish the move, when you finish spelling.
  • Then yell your word and head to the end of your line.
  • On the next round, use a different technique.
Step 4 – Takeaways
  • Be loud!
  • Strong technique!
  • Don’t be silly!
Step 5
  • Continue until each student has 2-3 turns.
