Drill: Race to the Bag
Equipment needed: 1 Wavemaster/1 Paper/1 Pen Per line
Instructors needed: 1 instructor per line
Description: Students will practice having good VISION by demonstrating their ability to demonstrate their ability to work as a team and spell out their different vision words with their team.
Teaching SKILLZ: Choices
let each team decide who will write which letters, giving them ownership in organizing their strategy and boosting engagement.
Brain SKILLZ: Working Memory
students must remember the definition of the vision word, the spelling sequence, and their team’s plan while taking their turn to write their letter on the wavemaster.
Step 1
Divide your students into lines.
Step 2
Have the students sitting with the instructor.
Step 3 – Explain the Rules
  • The 1st student in each line will stand up and face the wavemaster and they will be holding a pen.
  • When the instructor says one of the vision word the students have to figure out the definition as a team and say it out loud.
  • Then the 1St person must run to the wavemaster with the pen, they will write the 1St letter of the word given.
  • Then they will pass then pen to the next person in line who will run down and write the next letter..
  • This will continue until the team complete the word they are trying to spell.
Step 4 – Takeaways
  • Don’t rush so the instructor can read the writing
  • Talk to your teammates as you play.
  • Think quickly so that your team can win.
Step 5
  • Continue until each person has 2-3 turns.
