Skill: Vision
Drill: Creating Pride
Equipment needed: None
Instructors needed: Several to monitor
Description: The students will practice VISION by creating a 10 move freestyle to show their classmates. They will use pride by making something they made all by themselves and showing it off to the class.
Teaching SKILLZ:
UP THE REP – The instructor can do a warm-up round, where the students have to make a five move combination, but all the techniques have to have really bad technique. This will warm up their brains to making combinations, but it will also allow them to be silly and do their moves in a funny way.
Brain SKILLZ:
LONG TERM MEMORY – The students must be able to string together the moves that they know into a ten move combination. This works on their ability to recall information that they have learned in the past, as they have to have a variety of moves in their combinations.
Step 1
Spread out the students on the mat
Step 2 – Setting Up the Drill:
Make sure every student has enough area around them
Step 3 – Explain the Rules:
  • The students will have 3 minutes to create a 10 move freestyle
  • Once the time is up, line the students on the wall
  • Then they will show the class what they came up with
Step 4 – Takeaways:
  • Make it your own to have pride with what you made
  • Cheer on your teammate to give them encouragement
  • Perform strong so you put on a great show
Step 5
  • Continue until everyone has performed their freestyle
