Description:
When you are running, you sometimes lose control of your body. You may accidentally run into someone else and hurt them, or hurt yourself. In this drill we are going to practice controlling our body when I say freeze
Teaching SKILLZ:
TRICKERY – The instructor can say things like “one Tuesday morning” in order to help them listen more carefully and enhance their auditory processing further.
Brain SKILLZ:
AUDITORY PROCESSING – The student must be able to respond to the audio cue of “freeze”, meaning stop, and “1-2-3”, meaning run.
Step 1
Divide your students into lines
Step 2 – Setting Up the Drill:
Stand on the opposite side of the deck with your back facing the students.
Step 3 – Explain the Rules:
When you are ready, say the following: “1 – 2 – 3 – NINJA FREEZE!”
While you are counting, the students will start running toward you.
Once you say the word “FREEZE!” turn around and look at the students.
The students must freeze before you turn around and look at them. If they are moving, then they must sit down back at the starting line.
Continue the drill until one of the students touches you without getting caught moving. If you catch everyone moving, then start the game over.
Step 4 – Takeaways:
Learn to run until the command to stop
Sharpening your reaction time
Work on running/stopping instantly
Step 5
Continue the drill until one of the students touches you without getting caught moving. If you catch everyone moving, then start the game over.
