Drill: Flash!
Equipment needed: 1 Kicking shield per line
Instructors needed: 1 per Line
Description: The students will practice RUNNING by being able to switch from kicking to running quickly, without losing their balance or falling as they do so.
Teaching SKILLZ:
TRICKERY – The instructor can say words that sound like “go” in order to trick the students, like “gopher” and “ghost”. This will further test their auditory processing, as they have to listen for the whole word and not just the sounds of the word.
AUDITORY PROCESSING – The students must kick a kicking shield, and listen for the instructor to say “go”, so they can run down the mat. This works on their ability to follow verbal commands quickly, as they have to listen for the instructor to say “go” before they can start running.
