Skill: INSTINCT
Drill: Sidekick Stuffing
Equipment needed: 1 Kicking Shield per line
Instructors needed: One Per Line
Description: Students will practice having good INSTINCT by demonstrating their ability to time the instructors back leg round kick so that they can hit the instructor with a lead leg side kick.
Teaching SKILLZ: Choices
give students the option to decide whether to focus on speed (stuffing the kick as early as possible) or power (stopping the kick with strength), helping them feel ownership of their training approach.
Brain SKILLZ: Attention Control
students must stay locked in on the instructor’s movement, filtering out distractions and reacting at the exact right moment to intercept the round kick.

Divide your students into lines.
Step 2 – Setup the Drill
Have the students sitting with the instructor.
Step 3 – Explain the Rules:

  • When the instructor throws their back leg round kick the student will attempt to stuff the instructor before the kick hits them.
  • The student will do this 3 times before heading to the back of the line.
