Mat Chat – 3-minutes (Includes Water Break)
  • Today we are going to work on ORIENTATION.
  • ORIENTATION means ones’ position in relation to a specific place or object.
  • This is important because you need to be aware of where you are in relation to your opponent to successfully reverse their technique.

Here are the three ways that we are going to improve your ORIENTATION skills today:

1. Showing proper ORIENTATION of your body when under pressure 2. Having ORIENTATION to maximize speed while changing directions 3. Having great ORIENTATION to know where your body is and how to free it
Skill-Building Drills – 30 Minutes

Knee Tag:

Students will compete to tag each other’s knee 3 times in a row demonstrating strategy and trickery.

Situation Spar:

Students will start in an unfavorable position and have to maneuver their way out using non-striking techniques they have learned.
