Drill: Fast or Slow
Equipment needed: 1 cone or dot per student
Instructors needed: Multiple to Monitor
Description: Students will work on their STEPPING by changing the speed of their steps.
Step 1
Divide your students around the mat.
Step 2 – Setting Up the Drill:
Have each guardian sitting across the mat from their child making sure each child is sitting on or by a cone/dot.
Step 3 – Explain the Rules:
  • Guardians will tell their students to go either fast or slow.
  • Students will go the speed their guardian says until they reach them.
  • Guardians will keep switching the speed as their student is coming toward them.
  • Once the student reaches their guardian they will give them a big hug and then run back to their cone or dot.
  • Challenge students by standing further away so they really have to listen
Step 4 – Takeaways:
  • Cheer on students as they are going the correct speed.
  • Encourage students to go either faster or slower.
  • Be patient as students change their speed.
Step 5
  • Continue for at least 2 to 3 reps.
