Step 1
Have the students and guardians sit with each other.
Step 2 – Setting Up the Drill:
For each line, place 2 dots close together, and then a few inches away, place another 2 dots spaced close together.
Step 3 – Explain the Rules:
  • Students will stand with both feet on the first spot
  • The student will step to the next spot avoiding stepping on the space between the spots.
  • Guardians will help students while they’re taking their steps and call out whether it is a big step or a little step they are taking.
  • Challenge students by placing the spots further away
Step 4 – Takeaways:
  • Guardians will encourage students to step all by themselves
  • Cheer on the students when they’re able to step only on the spots
  • Be patient if children fall. Encourage them to try again without falling.
Step 5
  • Continue as many times as you can until time is called.
