Drill: Kick the Cone
Equipment needed: 3 cones/ 1 paper ball per line
Instructors needed: 1 per Line
Description: The students will practice having good AWARENESS by demonstrating their ability to use their eyes as they must track where the ball goes as it moves around quickly. This will challenge the students mentally as they have to process where the ball goes and be able to kick the small object over.
Step 1
Divide your students into lines
Step 2 – Setting Up the Drill:
The 1st student in each line will stand up in front of the instructor.
Step 3 – Explain the Rules:
  • The instructor will take the paper ball and put it under one of the 3 cones.
  • The instructor will then shuffle the 3 cones around and the student can watch.
  • Once the instructor is done the student must kick the cone they think has the ball under it.
  • If they get it right, then they earn 1 point for their team.
Step 4 – Takeaways:
  • Use your eyes to watch where the ball goes.
  • Don’t get distracted or you may miss something.
  • Control your kick.
Step 5
  • Continue until each student has 2-3 turns.
