Drill: Clap Kicks
Equipment needed: 1 Blindfold/1 Kicking shield per line
Instructors needed: 1 per Line
Description: The students will practice having good AWARENESS by demonstrating their ability to understand where a noise is coming from and can orientate themselves to where the sound is coming from to be able to kick a target. This will challenge them intellectually to be able to pin point a object using just their senses
Step 1
Divide your students into lines
Step 2 – Setting Up the Drill:
Have a blindfold for each line.
Step 3 – Explain the Rules:
  • The 1st student in each line will stand up and face the instructor.
  • The instructor can let the student pick out their favorite blindfold and then place that over their eyes.
  • The instructor will then move around the student when the instructor claps, the students will turn towards the sound.
  • Once they are orientated to the target they can take off their blindfold and front kick the target.
  • The instructor will repeat 3 times before the student can head to the end of the line.
Step 4 – Takeaways:
  • Listen for the clap so you know where to turn.
  • Try your best to hit the target with your kicks.
  • Look with your eyes before you kick.
Step 5
  • Continue until each student has 2-3 turns.
