Instructors needed: 1 per Line
Description: Students will work on their COURAGE by falling to the ground properly without getting scared. This will challenge student’s emotional stage of development by being okay with falling to the ground.
Teaching SKILLZ:
Teaching SKILLZ: NEUROBICS – As the student does their fall, they must name something from a category before they hit the ground, like a color or a superhero. This works on their speed of processing as well, as they have to think of something as quick as they can and do the fall correctly.
Brain SKILLZ:
Brain SKILLZ: SPEED OF PROCESSING – The student must be able to do the correct fall as they are pushed. This works on their ability to make correct decisions quickly, as they have to choose which fall works for the direction they are pushed.
Step 1
Divide your students into lines.
Step 2 – Setting Up the Drill:
Demonstrate front and back falls. Explain how to do each fall as well as the proper stand up.
Step 3 – Explain the Rules:
  • When the instructor calls you up you will close your eyes, so you don’t know which way the instructor will push you.
  • Once the instructor gives you a slight push in a direction you must do that proper fall and then the proper stand up.
  • Each student will have 2-3 pushes per turn.
Step 4 – Takeaways:
  • As soon as you feel the push open you eyes to know where you are going.
  • Make sure to not catch yourself hands first.
  • Get back up fast.
Step 5
  • Continue until every student has 2-3 turns.
