Skill: COURAGE
Drill: Crash
Equipment needed: Two slammer targets per group
Instructors needed: One per group
Description: The students will practice their courage to get hit by charging their opponent with a slammer pad.
Teaching SKILLZ: Trickery
Occasionally fake a “go” command to see who moves too soon, then remind them the goal is self-control. This keeps the drill fun while reinforcing listening and discipline.
Brain SKILLZ: Cognitive Flexibility
By changing the number of steps (3, 4, or 5), students must adapt to new rules quickly, practicing flexibility in how they approach the challenge.
Step 1
Divide your students into pairs and then divide the pairs into groups.
Step 2
For each line you will need two large slammer pads.
Step 3
Have the first pair in each group stand back-to-back.
Step 4 – Explain the Rules
  • When I say “go” youwill both take three steps in the direction you are facing and then turn and charge your partner.
  • The goal is to stay on your feet as you both crash into each other.
Step 5
  • Continue until each pair has at least two turns.
Step 6
  • On the second round you can have them take four or five steps away.
