Skill: Courage
Drill: 4-3-2-1
Equipment needed: 2 Boxing Mitts / Instructor
Instructors needed: 1 per Line
Description: The students will work on their COURAGE by blocking and striking while maintaining a guarding stance, keeping their eyes open and showing proper form.
Teaching SKILLZ:
CHOICES – The instructor can ask the student how fast they would like to go on their turn: slow, medium, fast, or ninja fast. This will empower the students as they will have some control over how they practice, and they will be more motivated to do their turn. This will also allow the students comfortable for a challenge to make their turn harder, and it will allow the students who are still getting the hang of things to go at their own pace.
Brain SKILLZ:
VISUAL PROCESSING – The students must be able to see the pads flash and understand what they mean, as well as reacting to their instructor trying to tap the student on their head or on their side. This works on their ability to make sense of what they see, as the pad’s orientation and its position determines what move needs to be done, and the student must be able to block correctly when the instructor goes to tap them.
Step 1
Divide your students into lines
Step 2 – Setting Up the Drill:
Have instructors stand in front of the line to start the drill
Step 3 – Explain the Rules:

  • In Round 2, the instructor will add on two swings Head-Head.
  • The students will duck under and counter uppercut.
