Description: 3 Levels of Re-Breakable boards / Line
Teaching SKILLZ:
EXTRINSIC MOTIVATION – The instructor can make it so the winning team can pick an exercise for the other team to do, not exceeding five reps. This will motivate the teams to try their best to win so they can give the other team an exercise.
Brain SKILLZ:
VISUAL PROCESSING – This works on their ability to make sense of what they see, as they have to be able to spot where they are supposed to hit on the board, estimate how much power they need to break the board, and hit that spot with the correct part of their hand.
Step 1
Divide the class into even lines.
Step 2 – Setting Up the Drill:
The instructor will assign a technique to break the board with.
Step 3 – Explain the Rules:
  • The students will race to the opposite end of the mat where they have 3 chances to break the 1st level board with the technique.
  • Once they break it, they must race back and high five their partner, who can then go.
  • After the entire team has broken the level 1 board, move to level 2board.
  • The first team to make it though all 3 levels of difficulty wins.
Step 4 – Takeaways:
  • Believe in yourself, even if it is a challenging break.
  • Keep going, especially if you don’t get it the first time.
  • You’ll perform better by giving it your all than you will if you hold back.
Step 5
  • Continue for 2-3 rounds.
